Pressure Booster Pump Buyers Guide

Pressure booster pumps are essential for ensuring consistent water pressure. They are useful in residential, commercial, and industrial spaces.

In this guide you will find information on:

  • Applications and uses of pressure booster pumps
  • Guide to choosing a pressure booster pump
  • Installation information.

What are pressure booster pumps used for?

Pressure booster pumps are mainly used for:

  • Individual houses
  • Low-rise buildings
  • Bungalows
  • Hotels & resorts
  • Industrial facilities

Which pressure booster pump do I need?

Choosing the right pressure booster pump depends on your specific water demand, desired pressure increase, and installation conditions. Horizontal multistage pressure booster pumps are commonly used for pressure boosting application in individual houses, low rise buildings and in hotels & resorts.

A typical power requirement in this area would be 1 to 2 HP.

TPB 1405-070 S011-24 MC (1.5 HP with Mechanical Controller)

Taro Premium Booster pumps are highly efficient and robust in construction, have lower operational noise, and use best in class materials. For an exact match between the pump and your requirements, use a pump selector like the one we have here.

Consult with a professional plumber or a dealer to evaluate your specific needs and to ensure you choose the right pump for your application.

When is a pressure booster pump not the right choice?

Under certain conditions, a pressure booster pump might not be the most suitable option for the job:

  • If your current water system already provides adequate pressure, adding a booster pump is unnecessary.
  • In areas where water supply is intermittent, a booster pump could run dry, causing damage to the pump and reducing its effectiveness.
  • Older plumbing systems might not handle the increased pressure from a booster pump, leading to leaks or bursts.

Installation information

Pressure booster pumps must be installed by certified and experienced technicians only.  This is not a job for untrained persons. Installation involves safety and operational protocols specified by the manufacturer, Electricity Board, and government bodies (local, state, and central).

Pressure booster pumps are to be installed on a dry surface protected from rainfall. They operate and pump water from the source to the intended usage through an electrical motor and pump, connected via a single friction-welded shaft. We have provided a step-by-step guide, which explains the process of installation in simple terms here: Click this link.
